Well, it turns out you can. By learning a few simple Google Chrome keyboard shortcuts, you can speed up your prospecting research, gain valuable insights about your leads faster, and really build out that pipeline.

No this isn't a keyboard shortcut, but it's just as useful. If I want to focus on only one tab, I'll click the tab and drag it downwards until a new window opens. This helps me focus on only one tab, by removing it from a cluster of too many other tabs.

I found it is because I have the habit of setting Ctrl+Q to Close Window, setting this back to Alt+F4 would make Ctrl+Shift+Q work in chrome. But I had this setting successfully working with chrome in KDE. Don' know if it is a bug, though.

You can use the close tab shortcut to fast close a tab, several tabs or all tabs/windows in Chrome, Firefox, Windows, Mac, etc. Check the details in the post below. MiniTool software, a top software developer, offers you free data recovery software, free disk partition manager, free PC backup tool, free movie maker, and more.

If you mistakenly closed a tab, you can reopen the tab by pressing Ctrl + Shift + T on Windows. To reopen a closed tab on a Mac, you can press Shift + Command + T keyboard shortcut.

To close the current window in Chrome, you should press Ctrl + Shift + W or Alt + F4 keyboard shortcut on Windows or press Command + Shift + W on Mac. This is also the close all tabs shortcut of Chrome/Firefox. You can also click the X icon at the upper-right corner to close the current window.

If you want to close all other tabs but keep the selected tab in Google Chrome browser, you can right-click the tab you want to keep and choose Close other tabs option to realize this task.

As you can see, after you right-click the selected tab in Chrome, you can see a menu containing a set of actions related to Chrome tabs. You can select Close tabs to the right to close all tabs located at the right of the current tab. Choose New tab option to open a new tab at the right of the selected tab.

To close a window on Windows 10, you can also press Ctrl + W or Alt + F4 shortcut. If you want to close all running programs in Windows, you can press Alt + F4 on desktop, this will pop up the window with computer shut down options. You can choose to close all programs and shut down or restart the computer.

Having to hit the X to close out that bar over and over is such a pain. When a download completes, I want to have the bar clear itself and leave the bottom of the screen, similar to the way Download Statusbar for Firefox does. How do I do this?

The Download Bar has been my #1 complaint about Google Chrome ever since I started using it, and was often a reason to switch back to Safari as my main browser. Every now and then I go through all the Google Groups topics about this, but even though there've been bug reports and feature requests about this for years, nobody at Google can be bothered to add a simple "Close Download Bar" keyboard shortcut or a "Don't show the Download Bar" checkbox in the settings.

When you close the Downloar Bar right away, the window size is restored though. However, when you interact with other applications for a while and then return to Google Chrome to close the Download Bar, it forgot the original window size for some reason, and you're stuck with the resized window. This probably isn't a problem on a screen with a high resolution, but on laptops where you have less screen real estate, it can be really annoying.

I did something close to Alec here, but my code is a little more efficient and resilient - mostly because it doesn't rely on keyboard shortcuts (much) and dynamically checks whether the shortcuts has registered before it goes on. Enjoy!

None of them work. The easiest way is to right-click on the tab that you want to keep open and then click 'close other tabs'. The shortcut to close ALL tabs is Ctrl+Shift+W, to open a new tab is Ctrl+T, and to close the tab you are on is Ctrl+W. Also, if you close a tab by mistake and want to reopen it to the same page it was on, use Ctrl+Shift+T. Experiment with the rest like, Ctrl+Shift+E, etc.

How can I get Chrome to launch and close "developer tools" on Mac (like Firebug with F12 & Ctrl+Shift+C)? It was so convenient in Firefox/Firebug to just hit F12 followed by "toggle inspect mode" (Ctrl+Shift+C) and then hover my mouse over the different elements. I would love it if anyone else used to have this workflow.

It seems the method you describe is currently the only true way of doing this. However, if you press the back key, it will close the current tab once you've gone back through the history of THAT tab. So if you open up lots of tabs but then close each one after reading, this is a very quick method for you (1 click). If you do extensive browsing in each tab, it's not as good but still easy in that you just press one button

I was not able to search on google how to close single tab on browser . I was using chrome as well as mozilla suddenly my mouse broken now I want to close my unwanted automatic generated webpage. How can i close it.I am using ubuntu 14.04.

Taking a quick browse through the code for the Enpass extension for Chrome and it looks like it's using the chrome.storage.sync property to store the option for the shortcut. While this makes it convenient to sync across devices, I have a few different devices that I'd like to have different shortcuts on, and with the sync property being used it changes it automatically on every device.

Could you make it an option to instead use the chrome.storage.local property instead? That way I can set the correct shortcut for each devices without overwriting the others. All it has to be is a simple checkbox with the label "Sync across devices?".

Google Chrome users who use the decade-old keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-Q to exit the web browser are greeted with an onscreen notification in recent versions of Chrome that reveals to them that Google has disabled the shortcut but provides an alternative.

Instead of using Ctrl-Shift-Q to exit Chrome, Google suggests that users use Alt-F and then X to exit. Alt-F is the shortcut for the main menu of the browser. When you activate the shortcut the menu opens. The key X is associated with the Exit option of the menu so that Alt-F then X opens the Menu and activates the Exit option to close the browser window.

IMO, this keyboard shortcut is too easy to trigger given its destructiveness. (If multiple windows are closed, only one window is restored when Chrome is reopened. Not to mention the pain of reopening dozens of tabs in a low bandwidth setting.)

The bug was added in 2013 but Google acted on it only recently. Important keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl-Shift-Tab are right next to Ctrl-Shift-Q. Accidentally hitting Ctrl-Shift-Q instead of Crl-Shift-Tab will exit Chrome instead of switching the the previous tab in the browser window.

At least some Chrome users who used to use Ctrl-Shift-Q to exit Chrome are not pleased about the change; some voiced their opinion as a comment on the bug listing stating that they never had a problem with hitting the wrong key in Chrome and that the new shortcut conflicts with the current version of the Chrome extension Vimium.

Only some browsers support Ctrl-Shift-Q at the time of writing. Mozilla Firefox does and so do browsers based on Firefox code. Other browsers, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi or Opera, do not support the keyboard shortcut.

Absolutely, utterly wrong. In Vivaldi, every keyboard shortcut can be customized. Even if the shortcut might not be a default setting anymore (it has been at least for some 1.x versions) it is not as restrictive/jailed as Chrome and prevents the user from changing those settings.

ALT+F > X does not always work and is imo not a real shortcut. > Not a solution!

ALT+F4 only closes the current window > Not an option!

Pressing X only closes the current window > Not an option!

Just because some people are too clumsy to press the correct shortcut, Google listens to them and decides to remove it? WTF Google?! There are way more important things to implement than to resolve this not-bug.

If you are using Internet Explorer, Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox you can quickly clear cache with a keyboard shortcut. While in your browser, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete simultaneously on the keyboard to open the appropriate window.

6. Click OK.

 7. If on a Windows computer, close and re-open Firefox to save your changes. If on an Apple computer, go to the Firefox menu on the top menu bar and select Quit for the changes to take effect.

I am about to attempt the CKA exam and it has a browser based terminal. And I am used to this terminal shortcut Ctrl + W which deletes a word. But the same shortcut in browser can close a tab. Since this exam is combination of both I am afraid I might close my exam tab while deleting a word in terminal. Now the only solution to this is disabling the shortcut in chrome. But turns out that the shortcut is hard coded in chrome.

Now you can add a custom shortcut here, Name it something so that you remember that you want to remove it later and in Command put some no-op thing. After that click on Set Shortcut to provide key binding.

With this shortcut, you can act like the Red Priestess from Game of Thrones and bring back recently closed tabs from the dead. You probably use Command-T to open new tabs, but did you know that Command-Shift-T opens your most recently closed tab? Chrome remembers the last 10 you closed.

If you are like me, then you have multiple tabs open within seconds of sitting down at your computer. To jump amongst your open tabs, press Command and any number key between 1 and 9. Command-1, for example, takes you to your first (left-most) tab. Likewise, Command-5 jumps you to the fifth tab from the left. Command-9 moves you to the right-most tab, so this keyboard shortcut is really only useful if your open tabs number in the single digits. 2351a5e196
