Together, the leaders of Maseeh strive to form a community where everyone feels valued and welcomed. We have many student leaders involved in the community, from floor reps to committee chairs to Maseeh Hall Executive Council. In addition to the students, we also have 12 Graduate Resident Assistants (GRAs), a visiting Resident Scholar, Heads of House, Associate Heads of House, an Area Director, and a House Manager all living in this building and available to help residents with issues ranging anywhere from academics to personal concerns.
Cullen & Donielle Buie -

Cullen Buie is an Associate Professor in MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Laboratory for Energy and Microsystems Innovation. His laboratory explores flow physics at the microscale for applications in materials science and applied biosciences.
In 2017 Kytopen, a start-up Buie co-founded that offers a high throughput method of genetic engineering, was among the first start-ups to be backed by The Engine, a start-up ecosystem launched by MIT. Buie was honored with the NSF Career Award in 2012, the DuPont Young Professor Award in 2013, the DARPA Young Faculty Award in 2013, and the NSF Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers in 2016. Buie received his BS from The Ohio State University. He earned his master’s and PhD in mechanical engineering at Stanford University and served as a postdoctoral fellow for one year at the University of California-Berkeley. Cullen, his wife Donielle, and four children (Jeremiah, Simeon, Joanna, and Ariel) have lived in Maseeh since the building opened and enjoy cooking, sports, and the beach!
Danielle & Jonathan Wood - Associate Heads of House

Professor Danielle Wood is one of Maseeh Hall’s Associate Heads of House, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Program in Media Arts & Sciences, and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Wood serves at MIT as the Faculty Lead for African and African Diaspora Studies. Within the Media Lab, Prof. Wood leads the Space Enabled Research Group which seeks to advance justice in Earth's complex systems using designs enabled by space. The research of Space Enabled designs systems that use tools from space to promote sustainability on Earth and designs approaches to support sustainability in Space. Danielle and Jonathan Wood have lived in Maseeh since 2021 and enjoy bike riding, game nights and mystery television shows!

Jhon Gonzalez - House Manager

Jhon has been at MIT since 2013. As an HRS Operations Manager, Jhon and his team focus is on ensuring that all residents are comfortably housed, supporting residential programming activities, and maintaining the highest level of service to the Maseeh community in alignment with the department's mission “we are here for students.” Jhon is a collaborative team player who is passionate about providing seamless service to students, faculty, and staff. With a bachelors degree and over 6 years of experience in facilities management, he has proven a track record of managing human resources, finances, vendor relations, and facility maintenance always being able to approach problem-solving with a solutions-oriented mindset. In his free time, He enjoys being part of Maseeh’s intramural soccer and basketball teams.
The Maseeh GRAs, or Graduate Resident Advisors, are a group of MIT grad students who serve as leaders for each floor. They host weekly study breaks and provide resources/guidance to Maseeh undergrads.

Hi Maseeh! I’m an MD/PhD student in the HST program at MIT, currently doing immunology research for my PHD. When I’m not in lab, you can find me hiking, skiing, cooking, baking (esp brown butter choc chip cookies for LL and floor 1), or hanging out with friends. Swing by to say hi :)

My name is James Patti, and I am a GRA partner with Emily on Masseh lower level. I am currently in medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine and am in the middle of my 3rd year. Outside of school, I love to ski, play basketball, and cook. Over the past year, I’ve also enjoyed teaching myself the basics of photography!

Kate Lane - Floor 2
Hi Maseeh! I’m a PhD student researching marine microbiology in the MIT/ Woods Hole Oceanographic Joint PhD Program. I study microbes in extreme places such as polar regions, as well as the microbiome of corals, sponges, and farmed seaweeds to inform potential climate change mitigation strategies. I like to be outside and rock or ice climb, dance, garden, and do ceramics. Fun fact: I’m a scuba diver!

Raechel Walker - Floor 3
Raechel Walker is a MIT PhD candidate in the Personal Robots Group for the Media Arts and Sciences Department. Her research focuses on AI education, specifically data activism curricula for minoritized communities. Raechel is a MIT Presidential Fellow, Amazon Robotics Fellow, and a Graduate Education for Minorities (GEM) Fellow. She received her Bachelors in Data Science with Programs of Concentrations in Perspectives of Social Sciences and Dance & Theatre from the University of California, San Diego.
Mo Toure - Floor 3
Hey there! I am a PhD candidate in biological engineering at MIT with a focus on precision cancer medicine and system biology. My current research aims to unlock new knowledge that may lead to improvements in the efficacy/specificity of current therapeutics as well as the identification of novel drug candidates that go beyond the canonical paradigm. I joined MIT after a 3-year experience in strategy consulting working with life sciences and biotechnology clients. Outside of the lab, I enjoy running, cycling, and playing soccer.

I am a PhD student in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, studying how language works in the mind, brain, and machines. You might see me running along the Charles, taking analog photos, or enjoying a movie night in Maseeh. Fun facts: I was a contestant on a British quiz show, I spent my 21st birthday on a boat sailing from Russia to Japan, and I used to be a high school teacher.
Hope Schroeder - Floor 5
I'm a Ph.D. student at the MIT Media Lab's Center for Constructive Communication, where I study how generative AI and language models can help us understand communication and communicate better. Outside of work, I love snow/ice sports in the winter and rollerblading in the summer! Fun fact: I lived on Hope Street this summer while interning at Microsoft Research Labs in New York City.

MHEC meets weekly on Sunday nights from 9:00-10:00 PM in the Maseeh PDR (open for all to attend), and they run study breaks at 8 PM every month in the Maseeh lobby.
