What do speech and language therapist do?

  • We work on a variety of speech and language skills including:

      • Articulation (speech sounds) - a child may have trouble saying sounds. He/She may not speak clearly and be hard to understand.

      • Language Skills - a child may have difficulty understanding information (receptive language) or using words/sentences effectively (expressive language).

      • Semantic Skills (vocabulary) - a child may have difficulty labeling, describing or understanding words or pictures.

      • Pragmatic Skills (social communication) - a child may have trouble talking with other children. He may not understand what others think or how they feel.

      • Fluency (stuttering) - a child may have trouble speaking smoothly. She may repeat sounds or words or have long pauses.

      • AAC (Assistive Technology / Augmentative and Alternative Communication) - children who have difficulty speaking or using verbal communication.
