Maryland Horse Life is a living photographic archive of Maryland’s horse world, its horses, people, farms, traditions, working landscapes, and everyday rhythms.
For more than twenty years, I have been taking photographs within this world. I now have thousands of images spanning different seasons of my life and different corners of Maryland horse country. Some document major events. Others hold quieter moments: morning light in a barn aisle, a horse waiting at the gate, muddy boots, old tack, familiar hands, dogs underfoot, and the work that happens when no one is watching.
These photographs are not simply a portfolio of my best images. Together, they tell a much larger story about a place, a culture, and a way of life that continues to change.
Maryland Horse Life is my way of bringing that story into the open.
I am beginning by carefully curating and organizing the photographic archive I already have. Over time, I hope the project will grow to include new documentary work, written stories, oral histories, books, fine-art prints, exhibitions, and collaborations with people and organizations that care about preserving Maryland’s horse culture.
The vision is intentionally larger than a website. I want Maryland Horse Life to become a lasting body of work ~ something people can explore now and something that will continue to hold meaning years from now.
I am not building a conventional photography business or a site primarily designed to book photo sessions. I am building a home for these stories.
This is where I am starting.
This project is an image-led, documentary and archival record of horses, farms, people, events, care, routine, and the quiet culture surrounding Maryland’s horse world.
For publishing, exhibitions, image licensing, features, or thoughtful collaborations involving the work, please get in touch.
If you would like to share your Maryland horse life story with me, I would be glad to connect. If it feels like a good fit, we can talk about documenting it as part of the Maryland Horse Life archive.
Maryland Horse Life is a place for sharing photographic stories and building an ongoing record of Maryland’s horse world. I am not yet taking requests for photography session bookings, as I continue to improve my craft and build my featured story albums.
