HTMP I

Ms. Erica Gamboa, United flight attendant presenter, 5/13/24

what have I learned?

I have learned several things in this presentation, I have learned that the hot water in the airplane is unsanitary, flight attendants fly more than 1 flight a day, the training process is at least 6-7 weeks long before the hire, you have to be very organized and prepared for anything, and that the flight attendants put their hair up incase of emergencies. I have learned that flight attendants offer acts of service, they help serve the guests with food, drinks, their luggage, and many more. Lastly, I have also learned that flight attendants start their pay once the plane doors close.

my reaction:

I was completely shocked to the fact that the flight attendants pay start once the door closes, I believe that it is fair, I think that the flight attendants are a huge help with the luggage, helps to court you to the seats etc. another thing that I was astonished about was the hiring process. It is at least 6-7 weeks long for the training process, they send you to the mainland for the interview which is separated in 4 parts (introduction, group interview, 1 on 1, and the reach test.) I genuinely was very intrigued with this guest speaker.

Ms. Nadine Presentation 05/09/24

what did you learn about the employment process, interview, and application form?

I have learned when applying for a job you should always be prepared and dress neatly/professionally, I have learned that after the interview, you should ask as many questions as you can. I have also learned that you should always be polite and kind to others around you.

reaction to the presentation:

I really admired how organized and how prepared she was for the countless questions that was being thrown at her. After this presentation I learn that I can start working in the hotel industry, I have always thought we have to be a legal age to apply to big companies (18+). As Ms. Nadine was presenting, I was completely astonished to the fact that we can be interviewed on the spot, so something that we can do is always dress neatly and always be prepared for anything.

"Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts" 04/30/24

What have I learned while reading this new chapter about Mr. Sharp and the four season hotels ? I have learned that you should always serve your guests and customers with warmth and generosity. Providing their needs, Making them feel welcomed and heard. I have learned that Mr. Sharp has done countless of offerings and projects to please the customers and guests. For more detail, Mr. Sharp was the first person to introduce amenities. He has also provided overnight services, twice daily house cleaning, and 24 hour room services.

As I read this new lesson I realize how much empathy he has for others, wanting them to be comfortable, I am glad that Mr. Chong has brought this new chapter up. If I hadn't read this new chapter I would have not known how you should treat your guests and customers, and how to do deal with conflict. I was surprised when I found out that hotels put their own scents in the air cons through Mr. Sharp.

Professional day, 01/11/24

what is professional day and what did I do?

what is professional day? professional day to me is a day where us students will wear formal/business attire. we do professional day to help us prepare ahead of time for future interviews, meetings, or for work. On this day I wore a black skirt, black flats, a white blouse, and white socks. something I did to prepare my clothes was to steam and took off all the lint!

how I felt and how difficult:

I felt really confident in the formal attire I wore, I felt really put together, clean, and awake. everything went well except the shopping part. It was difficult finding the right size, for my blouse, blazer, trousers, and flats. it took awhile for me to find the right size in clothing but everything turned out okay in the end.

Mrs. Olivero's presentation, 11/12/23

what did i learn?

I learned that CTE classes and programs teaches you many skills to begin your career. For example, you can practice your communication, multitasking, and people skills. I learned that there are multiple opportunities for high school students. there are programs that can get you to have half days in school, getting 2 years worth of college credits and many more.  being a CTE member you can get many offers and/or opportunities that you can use to practice your skills. I also learned that we should start planning ahead!

my reaction:

I loved the presentation. Mrs. O's presentation gave me a better understanding of the whole GCC program, To the meaning of CTE and to what they had to offer us.  I was astonished when I found out that if I  join the work experience program it can help me get half days in my senior year of high school. I was also surprised that I can get 15 college credits WHILE being in high school. I find this program extremely helpful!
