Green Thumb is dedicated to educating students, staff, and faculty on best practices for sustainability and a healthy lifestyle that benefits the campus community, promotes overall well-being, and a sense of community stewardship.

The Green Thumb is an inter-professional student organization with board members from the Department of Environmental Health Sciences and Civil and Environmental Engineering Department to improve sustainability efforts and promote a healthy lifestyle throughout UAB. The organization focuses on service, education, and healthy development by organizing school-wide opportunities for students to participate in service events, educational programs and experience active sustainability practice. We will be raising awareness of environmental issues and fostering environmental literacy within the student community. The Green Thumb will be organizing school-wide opportunities that focus on the importance of health, wellness, and urban gardening. The Green Thumb has a plot in UAB Garden to grow and harvest fresh produce for students and Blazer Kitchen.
