I have tried lots of EDA PCB tools, and my worst experience was with Mentor Pads. An absolutely bad designed software, with lots of bugs and a terrible help system. When I work with this piece of crap I have to smoke lots of cigars to keep relaxed. The people from Mentor have absolutely no compassion for the people that are actually going to work with their tools. Because of mentor I began drinking and taking pills!!! I prefer Altium and Allegro by 20dB more than the Mentor dissaster tools.
At the recent (very pleasant) Mentor brainwashing session in Knebworth, they made a big thing of all the UI improvements, most of which have been present in Design Capture for, well, forever. Very sad. Lipstick on a pig etc etc.
Also it was funny the number of designers who when asked, said that they too were sticking with Design View, just getting on with the job.

The new DX designer is much better than the old DX designer, if your a programmer you can make it do almost anything, if you want to design a schematic and layout a PCB you need to learn how to program first. It still reeks of DOS.
I used to work for a big american automotive company who used DXD, it was truly the most annoying piece of software with so many bugs I have ever had the misfortune to use, astonishingly it got worse on every new release. in the 10 years I used it I aged 20!, If they had used decent cad software I may never have left the company. The cost of the hundreds of licences they were shelling out for each year probably kept mental graphics going!
For me, I was introduced to each of the mentors. I never asked them to be my mentor, the relationship just evolved in that direction. I could run design ideas by them or just chat about business or the industry.

To an extent that is the case, from a practical, use of tools, perspective. However, that which differentiates an adequate designer from a good one, applies to all three of the disciplines you mention, plus all others.
Ideas and an ability to communicate an intended message to an intended audience are key to being good at what you do. This applies to all areas of design. One would assume it would be a prerequisite to being a designer. Sadly, that is increasingly not the case these days, certainly with bottom- and filter-feeders. It will always be necessary if you want to play with the big kids.
My mentorship with Chris was one of the best things I did this year. Not only did he give very helpful, practical, and precise advice as I improved my graphic design portfolio during a career shift, but he was very kind and supportive, helping me return to a healthy mindset at a time when I was feeling discouraged. I have the same problem. Is this a bug in the WinCC?? I have restarted, but it did not help. I do not have a resolution issue. I did not change anything on my system.
I'm working with version V6.2 SP2 + Hotfix5. I have 2 serversrunning the project, in redundant mode. And I haveonly the problem on 1 server. The object properties dialog box is not visible, but it seems to me that the graphics designer is not aware there is a problem. The little icon in the toolbar menu goes from on to off as normal, but there is no dialog box shown. Is it hiding somewhere ? Can somebody help me ?
