About Marwa

Marwa Abdalla is a researcher, educator, and public speaker whose work focuses on representation, race, and religion. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at UC San Diego where she is a Jacobs Fellow. She is also a certified educator with The Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, a Washington-D.C.-based research and education organization. Her dissertation focuses on the sanctioning and resilience of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism across news media, popular media, and social media. She teaches undergraduate courses in communication, cultural studies, and media studies at UC San Diego and San Diego State University.
