In 2025, descendants of Marvin started cataloging his poems which have been preserved through several generations. We have digitized a limited selection of them on this website.
Our mission is to honor the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Marvin Gullett by preserving his story, celebrating his values, and providing a meaningful space for reflection, connection, and inspiration. This website serves as a digital tribute, capturing the memories, heritage, and contributions that defined his journey while fostering a sense of community among family, friends, and all who wish to remember him.
We strive to:
Preserve History: Protect and share the moments that shaped Marvin’s life through written memories, poems, prose, personal stories, and historical records.
Celebrate Legacy: Highlight his accomplishments, character, and the influence he had on the people and communities around him.
Connect Generations: Provide a place where Appalachians can gather, reflect, and contribute their own memories, ensuring our stories continue to live on.
Inspire Others: Share Marvin’s values, passions, and guiding principles to encourage others to live with the same integrity, resilience, and compassion he demonstrated.
Through this site, we aim to keep Marvin’s memory alive, not only as a record of the past but as a source of comfort, understanding, and preserverence for the future.
Digitize the entirety of Marvin's works.
Showcase a portion of his portfolio in local surrounding museums.
Present his works at Appalachian-centered events.
Publish selections of his poems, either in anthologies or stand-alone books in volumes.
Proceeds would go to starting a poetry prize titled "The Gullett Poetry Prize."
This would go to aspiring Appalachian poets who have faced financial hardships and wrote about how they preservered despite extenuating circumstances with an emphasis on how they utilized limited resources to fuel their creative drive.
Descendants of Marvin have preserved his poems and posted them here so the world can access his writings.
