Privacy Policy for MartScout — Seller Profit Calculator
Last updated: April 10, 2026
Mart Scout is a barcode scanning and profit calculation tool for Walmart Marketplace sellers, published by codebage. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
By installing or using Mart Scout you agree to the practices described below.
We do not require an account. You don't sign up, log in, or give us your name, email, or phone number to use Mart Scout.
Your scans stay on your device. Your Haul List (saved scans, costs, notes) is stored locally on your phone and is never uploaded to our servers.
We do not sell your data. We have no analytics SDKs that profile you and we do not share your information with data brokers.
The camera is only used for live barcode detection. No photos or videos are taken, stored, or transmitted.
Some features call third-party services (Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Google Gemini, Google AdMob, Google Play Billing). These are described in detail below.
Mart Scout does not ask you for personal information. The App does, however, use the following device features and data:
The App requests the CAMERA permission so it can detect product barcodes in real time using on-device machine learning (Google ML Kit). The camera frames are processed locally on your device and are never recorded, saved, uploaded, or sent to any server. You can deny camera permission and still use the App by entering UPCs or Walmart Item IDs manually.
When you scan or look up a product, the App saves the result to a local database on your device. This may include:
The product title, brand, image URL, category, and Walmart product page URL
The Walmart price, fees, profit calculations, and verdict (FLIP / RISKY / SKIP)
Your sourcing cost, item weight, and any notes you type
Optional Amazon cross-check price and AI-generated insight (see Section 3)
This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it (for example by tapping "Export CSV" or "Report this scan", which open the system share or email picker so you can decide where it goes).
You can permanently delete this data at any time from inside the App ("Clear all" on the Haul List screen) or by uninstalling Mart Scout.
The App needs internet access in order to:
Fetch product pages from Walmart.com to extract product information.
(Optional) Fetch product pages from Amazon.com for cross-platform price comparison.
(Optional) Send anonymous product context to Google Gemini for AI-generated insights.
Display advertising via Google AdMob.
Process Pro subscriptions via Google Play Billing.
These outbound requests do not include your name, email, phone number, location, or any account identifier.
Mart Scout makes standard HTTPS requests to publicly available Walmart product pages to extract product details (title, price, fees, seller, etc.). We do not log into Walmart, do not share any personal information with Walmart, and do not store cookies on your behalf.
If you use the Amazon cross-check feature, the App makes standard HTTPS requests to publicly available Amazon product pages to compare pricing. As with Walmart, we do not log into Amazon and do not share personal information.
If you use the AI insight feature, the App sends a short text prompt to Google's Generative Language API. The prompt contains product information only — title, brand, category, price, your cost, profit numbers, and competition count. It does not contain your name, email, device ID, location, or any personal identifier. Use of the Gemini API is governed by Google's Generative AI Terms and Google Privacy Policy.
Free users of Mart Scout see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google's Advertising Privacy & Terms, including your device's advertising identifier. The first time you launch the App in eligible regions (such as the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) will display a consent form that lets you choose whether personalized or non-personalized ads are shown.
If you subscribe to Mart Scout Pro, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. Mart Scout never sees or stores your payment details. Subscription state is reported back to the App so we know whether to unlock Pro features. See the Google Play Privacy Notice for details.
Barcode detection runs on-device using Google ML Kit. No image data is sent to Google for this feature.
Mart Scout does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or date of birth
Your Walmart Seller Central, Amazon Seller Central, or any other marketplace credentials
Your precise or approximate location
Your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or call logs
Your browsing history outside the App
Any biometric data
We do not run third-party analytics SDKs or crash reporters that profile you.
Information accessed by the App is used solely to:
Look up products you ask the App to look up
Calculate fees and profit for your sourcing decisions
Save your scan history locally so you can revisit it later
Display ads (free version) or unlock features (Pro version)
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, train machine learning models, or for any purpose beyond delivering the features you requested.
All scan history lives locally on your device. You control it:
Clear individual scans by swiping or tapping the trash icon on the Haul List.
Clear all scans by tapping "Clear all" on the Haul List screen.
Uninstall the App to remove the database, cache, and all locally stored data.
Because we do not have servers that store your scans, there is no "delete my account" request to make — uninstalling removes everything.
Mart Scout is a tool for adult resellers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at the email below and we will take appropriate action.
We use HTTPS for all outbound network requests. Locally stored scan data is protected by Android's standard app sandboxing, which prevents other apps from reading Mart Scout's database. No transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) or the CCPA (California), including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Because Mart Scout does not collect personal data and stores everything locally on your device, you already have direct control — uninstalling the App or clearing your scans satisfies these rights.
If you have questions or want to exercise any right, contact us at the email below.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via the App's release notes on Google Play. Your continued use of Mart Scout after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
