Marti Shovel began as the main character of a 2014 National Novel Writing Month project.

When Author X got 44,000 words of her 50,000-word goal written, she decided that a satisfying resolution to the story would be impossible for someone as lazy and underachieving as herself.

And, so, she abandoned the novel—and Marti.

But Marti is back, and she's seeking agency from room 117 of the Midvalley Motor Lodge on Highway 323.*

To this end, she is working on an Untitled Masterpiece, a serial published every Monday.
