Here you can read about Martin Partio's scout activities in English!
Scouting is a fun hobby that gives you many kinds of useful skills. In addition of weekly group meetings, scouts offers plenty of great activities such as nature trips, camps and playing and learning new things together. In scouting children make new friends – even for rest of their lives. This hobby is full of friendship, laughter and unforgettable experiences!
Martin Partio (MaPa) is a local scouts group based in Martti, Hyvinkää. Martin Partio was founded in 2007 and is open for everyone. Our scout scarf (necker) is dark blue and it has steam train's wheel. It reminds of our town's history and it's connection to the railways. The colours resemble Uusimaa region's colors.
Our weekly meeting place is Martin seurakuntatalo (Niittymäenraitti 4, 05810 Hyvinkää)
The entrance is at the glass side door, from the school's inner playground. If you can't find us, give us a call and we'll come and get you.
We have different age groups in Martin Partio.
Family Scouting: 3-6 years old with an adult (Meetings about once a month)
Our local group offers Family Scouting for children 3-6 years old and their parents. The purpose is to familiarise children with Scouting. Families also get a chance to enjoy positive nature experiences together with other like-minded people. Family Scouting is a great hobby for the whole family and an opportunity to meet other parents regularly.
Cub scouts: 7-9 years old (Meetings weekly)
The Cub Scouts are 7–9-year-old, and they are organized in groups of 8–14. The group is led by an adult leader. The group meets weekly for its Cub Scout meetings which consist of learning and playing. In addition they go on short hikes and participate in camps and competitions.
Adventurers: 10-12 years old (Meetings weekly)
Guides and Scouts between ages 10 and 12 are called Adventurers and work together in teams. The team has adult leaders who take care of program activities. Children can also try out leadership by performing minor tasks during the team meetings. Adventurers explore different skills like first aid, cooking outdoors and cooperation with others.
Trackers: 12-15 years old (Meetings weekly)
The Trackers are the 12–15 years old Guides and Scouts, organized in groups, girls and boys separately. The groups consist of 4–12 Guides/Scouts and they meet once a week. The weekly activities are led by a young leader (an Explorer, see below) but an adult Guide/Scout leader directs the activities and has major responsibility. The themes of the Tracker program are camping, creativity, survival and society.
Adults: Over 25 years old (Whenever you have time!)
Within the Finnish Guide/Scout program, the term adult refers to Guides and Scouts older than 25. In the organization, the role of the adults is to support the growth and development of the children and young people. Thus, even though the Guides and Scouts of Finland is a youth organization, adults play an important role in the movement. It is never too late to join or re-join the Guides and Scouts!
