Martine Schut

I am a physics and mathematics Ph.D. student (since Sep 2020) working on quantum gravity, large entangled systems, decoherence, noise analysis and on knot theory at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

As a part of the Fundamentals of the Universe Research Theme, I'm doing a PhD in both physics and mathematics, with Anupam Mazumdar (VSI) and Roland van der Veen (BI).

A short (incomplete) list of my interests:

I received a MSc in theoretical physics from the University of Groningen, and did my research project on gravitational decoherence. I received the BSc in Physics from the University of Groningen with a minor in physics at the University of Calgary. I did my research project on particle detection in the LHCb detector and additionally received an Honours College in Philosophy medal.

Besides research, I enjoy being involved in science outreach events, teaching and organising seminars/events.

If you're a starting Ph.D. student and looking for some tips and tricks, e.g. on how to write in LaTex or how to manage your bibliography, see this blog: https://patrickemonts.com/post/.
