Martin Paul Jr. Tabe-Ojong

Welcome to my personal website!

I am an Economist (YP) with the World Bank where I support the Agriculture and Food Global Practice. Previously, I was an Associate Research Fellow with IFPRI. Passionate about international development, poverty reduction, and shared prosperity, my operational and analytical work focuses on selected strands in development, agricultural and behavioural economics using econometric impact evaluation. I have worked on issues covering agricultural transformation, digital agriculture, climate-smart agriculture and social protection.  Some of my work on the socio-economic implications of the adoption of improved crop varieties  has been awarded the 2023 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers.  

I received my PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany. I have an MSc in Agricultural and Food Economics from the same university where I was awarded the Hans H Ruthenberg award for an excellent thesis from the Foundation Fiat Panis in 2019. I also hold a MA in Social Protection from Hochschule Bonn RheinSieg, Sankt Augustine Germany

I have advised and consulted for the World Bank, World Fish, ICRISAT, the German Development Institute, Global Crop Diversity Trust and, the Alliance for Bioversity and CIAT.

I am highly skilled at data collection through household surveys with fieldwork and research stays in Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, Egypt, and Cote d'Ivoire.  

Most of my work is presented at conferences and policy meetings usually upon invitation.
