2023 Jeanie Larson Dobbins Scholarship Winner: Krista Perez

MARRE has been such an important conference for me over the last 18 years. It has given me so many ideas and strengthened my teaching as a Reading Recovery teacher. I have been privileged to learn under the leadership of some of the greatest Reading Recovery teachers and teacher leaders and have picked up so much theory as well as practical applications from their sessions. Attending the conference is something that I look forward to every year, and I get excited thinking about all the new things I can take away with me and all the ways I can grow in my teaching. This year my building used all our Title funds to ensure that I could stay a full time Reading Recovery teacher in one building. A scholarship will be my only way to attend this year.

2023 Linda Dorn Scholarship Winner: Natasha Miller

I became aware of Reading Recovery three years ago when I began teaching first grade in Kingsville, Missouri. It was love at first sight. The next year the position became available, and I jumped on the opportunity for I am an educator in constant search of the best ways to reach students. I am also a lifelong learner that seeks knowledge. Attending the MARRE conference will assist me in both areas. I had the pleasure of attending last year and gained a wealth of knowledge, experience, and contacts. My goal is to attend this year and to bring the first grade teacher that I work with. We have created an amazing working relationship that truly embodies the goals of this program. With a scholarship, we will both be able to attend the MARRE Conference. In doing so, we can continue to help build strong foundations for all of our students and work together to create the best reading program possible.
