Teaching Methodology
Mark believes that passion is reflected through hard work and dedication to learn and improve, regularly and consistently. Mark employs a forward-thinking and mature teaching approach that goes beyond technique. He instils essential life skills such as structure, discipline, accountability, and routine, cultivating a deep dedication to the art and continuous self-improvement. Additionally, he believes that true passion is reflected through hard work and dedication to constantly learn and improve, with regularity and consistency.
Mark is firm, direct, and thorough, ensuring students develop the resilience and mental fortitude required to excel in performance, high-level exams, and the competitive nature of the classical music industry. His strategies are directly informed by his own professional experience as both an orchestral member and soloist. Alongside guiding students to becoming an excellent fit in an orchestra and obtaining the ability to play and perform the classics, Mark is also passionate about helping young musicians be creative and find their own style. He values assisting his students in finding their own sound and supporting those who wish to one day write their own music.
Mark offers a flexible fee structure that supports dedicated, professional students by operating on a week-by-week basis often taking more than one hour a week, ("take a lesson, pay a lesson") and does not follow school term holidays. However, you must still secure and weekly day and time in order to obtain regular lessons, as it is often not possible to change lesson times around other students.
