Mark Morabito is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur and business leader with 20+ years of experience in business and capital markets. His career has focused primarily on junior mining, merchant banking, and corporate development, with a track record of building and leading complex resource ventures. Over the course of his career, Mark has raised more than $1B in capital.
Mark began his professional career as a corporate finance and securities lawyer practicing in Toronto and Vancouver. After nearly a decade in legal practice, he transitioned to the operating side of business, applying his legal and transactional experience to company building and strategic leadership. He has since led two mining companies from initial listings on the TSX Venture Exchange through to full listings on the NYSE.
As founder of King and Bay, a Vancouver-based merchant bank, Mark focuses on identifying, funding, and developing high-potential opportunities across the natural resources sector and select growth industries. Through King and Bay, he works closely with management teams to support strategy, capital formation, and long-term value creation.
Mark has played senior leadership roles in several successful resource development companies. Among his notable achievements is securing a $400M strategic agreement with HBIS Group at Alderon Iron Ore. At the time, the transaction marked HBIS Group’s first investment outside of China.
He is also the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Intrepid Metals, where he leads the advancement of the Corral Copper Project in southwestern Arizona. The project is supported by extensive historical drilling data and ongoing modern exploration programs focused on advancing the asset toward development. Mark led the deal that resulted in Teck Resources (TSX: TECK.A)(NYSE: TECK) agreeing to become a strategic investor by acquiring a 9.9% equity stake in Intrepid.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Mark enjoys staying physically active through gym fitness and boxing, and he likes travelling with his two daughters. He is currently # 444 on the waitlist to ride as an astronaut with Virgin Galactic.
Originally from southern Ontario, Mark now resides in Vancouver. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and earned his J.D. from Western University’s Faculty of Law.
