Founded on 08 august 2016 (the day that the 2015 Indian Premier League began) as Sony Pictures Networks India, sony Network became the second sports television channel founded by the group after Sony Six.

The channel was called Sony ESPN on 17 february 2017. The relationship with ESPN was formalized in October 2015. Sony and ESPN will collaborate together on the platform and on the smartphone.

ESPN offers and creates entertainment such as baseball, football , soccer, basketball , badminton, field hockey, baseball, soccer, motorsport and other sports.

Sony Six and Sony ESPN, which were released prior to Sony's takeover of Ten, essentially became part of the company after the deal was done. Both the SD and HD models of Sony ESPN were discontinued on 31 december 2020.
