Expertise:
Expertise matters in a number of aspects because you wouldn't ask your dentist to change your oil. In other words, Google is looking for evidence of the website's creator's expertise to determine if they're appropriate for the question being asked. This means Google likes to see real proof that you are an expert.
Authority:
Authority enhances expertise. Websites with a reputation for being authoritative are preferred by Google. To determine whether your content is valued, Google looks for ways to gauge how valuable it is.
Trustworthiness:
Your website should be viewed as trustworthy by Google. In other words, they will reward content they believe is honest, accurate, and true.
The EAT is particularly important for sites that deal with personal information such as finances, health, and safety. There are some areas, sometimes life-or-death, where providing the right results is very important, so YMML ('your money, your life'). As a result, Google gives YMML sites much greater weight than other types of websites.
