MARK ROBERTS is a Lead Urban Economist with the World Bank, where he also co-leads the Bank's Urban & Spatial Economics and Analytics Global Solutions Group. He is the lead author of major World Bank Flagship reports on cities and urbanization for Indonesia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and South Asia, as well as of a global Flagship report on cities and climate change. He has also worked on the Europe and Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa regions, and is an analytical advisor to Work Bank teams around the globe working on issues of urban and spatial development. Mark has published more than thirty articles in leading academic journals and edited book volumes, and downloads of his World Bank publications exceed 620,000. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mark was a University Lecturer in Urban and Spatial Economics at the University of Cambridge. Mark holds both a Ph.D. in Land Economy and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Cambridge, as well as an M.Sc. in Economics from Warwick University.
