Some stories are told over and over. Each time they are taken out and retold they become more abstract versions of the original. Other stories are untold, allowing them to remain frozen, apart, and unconfronted. These untold stories have been shut off, yes like monsters but also like gods.
Unfolding of the mundane into the strange allows a back alley way into scary or magical spaces. By sneaking up on them it may be possible to gaze on them as shadows play on a wall or things may be seen at oblique angles in a mirror. This convoluted path may stand a chance of accessing a foreign space without prejudicing the sight through a direct gaze. The Other remains desirous because there may be glimpses of it but it cannot be possessed through ownership or rationality.
Indirect observations arch toward revelation.
