The award winning film Project NeuroPhantom is the creation of 14-year-old Maryam. The horror mystery short film follows a group of campers who uncover the sinister past of their camp, leading to a chilling confrontation with their counselor. Maryam not only wrote the script, but also led the casting process to bring her characters to life. As both director and actress, she balanced the dual challenges of guiding the vision of the film and stepping into the role of Jasmine. With her co-director by her side during key scenes, Maryam successfully lead the production, ultimately culminating in a highly anticipated premiere.

The film follows a young girl navigating language barriers and bullying, ultimately discovering friendship and kindness through a classmate’s kindness. As writer, director, and editor Maryam crafted the narrative, ensuring it resonates emotionally with viewers. With her small team of 3 teens (Victoria S, Barkha R), they led the casting process to find the perfect actors to embody her characters, bringing authenticity to the story.
