Teaches (obvious). Inspires (maybe). Listens and mentors (the true gifts).
Insegna (ovvio). Ispira (forse). Ascolta e guida (i veri doni).
As the Epitteto's dictum above hints, listening is more important than talking. Even more so nowadays when there is too much useless talking and little real listening. Listening and mentoring are the true gifts that a teacher can make to his or her students (current and past).
Come suggerisce il detto di Epitteto, ascoltare è più importante che parlare. Ancora di più al giorno d'oggi in cui siamo sommersi da inutili chiacchiere e c'è pochissimo vero ascolto. Ascoltare e guidare sono i veri doni che un insegnante può fare ai suoi studenti (ed ex-studenti).
