My foundation in marine science and understanding of geospatial science, environmental sciences, and coastal ecology is because of passionate educators and well-designed education programs. Over the years, I have observed numerous educators with varying teaching methods, as well as taught multiple undergraduate, mixed, and graduate university-level courses as a teaching assistant and instructor for four years, led professional workshop modules for coastal managers, completed over 70 hours of environmental educator instructor training workshops, and completed a PhD pedagogy course. These experiences have been influential in the development of my own teaching philosophies, which continues to grow with my experiences. I aim to provide clarity in my communication with students so that I can facilitate scientific exploration by having students get their hands dirty, have students critically analyze information, and provide foundational knowledge on coastal science topics.
Since 2015, I have been a graduate Teaching Assistant or an Instructor of Record for a number of courses within the Department of Environmental Sciences at UNCW. The following is a sample of the courses I have taught:
As Teaching Assistant (UNCW)
EVS 195L Introduction to Environmental Science Lab (1 credit)
EVS 485/592 Introduction to Drone Operations (1 credit)
EVS 485/592 Introduction to Survey Technologies (1 credit)

Beyond collegiate classroom settings, I have taught at workshops for professionals and mentor research students. Workshops I have taught have been on topics ranging from watershed science to geospatial applications to climate change geared towards a range of audiences from educators to local governments to nonprofit personnel. I regularly mentor two to eight graduate and undergraduate students per semester through the CES Lab. I mentor students on field research techniques and those working on honors projects, capstones, and graduate thesis.
