I am an Assistant Professor at the Optical Network group, Dept. of Electrical Engineering at Chalmers in Gothenburg, Sweden. Prior to joining Chalmers in 2019, I have been working as a researcher at the Optical Networks Lab (ONLab) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, since 2013. In 2017, I was awarded a Docent degree in Optical Networks from KTH. I received my Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunications from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2012 and 2008, respectively.
I am the principal investigator of the project Safeguarding optical communication networks from cyber-security attacks, funded by a Starting Grant from the Swedish Research Council VetenskapsrĂĄdet.
I served as the leader of the working group on network resiliency to malicious human activities in COST Action RECODIS, with members from 31 participating country. I was a co-leader of the project Resilient controller and hypervisor placement for future communication networks (RESyST), and have been participating as a researcher in a number of national and international projects, such as Celtic Plus SENDATE, FP7 DISCUS and Kista 5G Transport Lab funded by Ericsson AB and VINNOVA.
From 2016 to 2017 I served as the deputy Program Director of the International Bachelor's Programme in Information and Communications Technology, the only BSc program taught in English at KTH.
I served as a General Chair of the International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modeling (ONDM), May 31 - June 3, 2021. From 2016 to 2019 I was a General Chair of the Photonic Networks and Devices (NETWORKS) meeting, a part of the Optical Society of America's Advanced Photonics Congress. I served as a Program Chair of ONDM 2020, a Co-Chair of a Special session on Network Disaster Resilience at RNDM 2019, and a technical program committee member of IEEE ICC, CLEO, IPC, Photonics West, ONDM and other conferences.
I am a Associate Editor of the IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking and Photonic Network Communications journals, and have been serving as a Guest Editor of IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology and IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics. I regularly perform reviews for top-ranked journals such as IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE/OSA JLT and JOCN, Computer Networks, and many more.
Since 2017 I have been serving at the European Commission as an external expert evaluator of Horizon 2020 project proposals, ERC grant proposals and H2020 granted projects.
My support to the community includes being a member of the OSA Meetings Council (2019-2021 term), OSA Advanced Photonics Congress Strategic Planning Committee member (2020-2022), and a referee for the Corning Women in Optical Communications Scholarship (OFC) 2019.
I am a Senior Member of The Optical Society (OSA) and a Senior Member of IEEE.
