Originally from Curridabat, Costa Rica, I moved to Honduras to study Agricultural Sciences and Production at Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School. After completing my degree, I did a year-long internship at Dow AgroSciences-Corteva in Indianapolis and realized I wanted a career in plant pathology.
I was a visiting scholar in the Cruz lab at Purdue University (7 months) in 2018. The following year I started a master's in Botany & Plant Pathology with the same lab (2019-2020). In 2021, I began my PhD journey under the direction of Dr. Davide Cammarano & Dr. Christian Cruz, researching southern rust of corn phenotyping. At the end of that year, Dr. Cammarano started at another institution, and Dr. Cruz became the main advisor. Currently, I am a 4th year PhD candidate willing to graduate in December 2024. Through my studies, I have developed a passion for TAR SPOT OF CORN, digital plant pathology, plant phenotyping, modeling, epidemiology, and plant pathology.
I love being involved with student associations and organizing events that improve our student life at Purdue University.
