Researcher in Development and Agricultural Economics

Marie-Charlotte BUISSON

With specialization in impact evaluation and micro-econometrics methods, I conduct rigorous research in Development Economics and Agricultural Economics at the nexus of water, land, and food. I have expertise in the management of natural resources, in the role of policy instruments and technologies and their relations with human behavior, poverty alleviation, food security, and environmental sustainability.

My competencies are anchored on more than ten years of extensive field research in Africa, South East Asia, and Central Asia. My research supports the design of investments and informs policymakers to foster equity and promote poverty reduction, food security, and sustainable natural resources management.

I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from the CERDI in France in 2012. I currently work as a Senior Researcher at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI-CGIAR) where I lead the Economics and Impact Assessment (EcIA) Research Group.
