The group's goal is to end a curse on Jumanji, brought about by corrupt archaeologist Professor Van Pelt[b] after he stole a magical jewel called the "Jaguar's Eye" and gained control of the jungle's animals. They must return the jewel to the shrine and call out "Jumanji!" to lift the curse and leave the game.
The film's complete title, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, was confirmed in Cinemacon 2017 held in March. Its plot involved teenagers cleaning out a school's basement who find a vintage video-game version of Jumanji and are sucked into the first film's jungle setting. Although fans debated whether the film was a sequel or a reboot, the second trailer (released that September) indicated that the sequel is set 21 years after the first. Dwayne Johnson noted that the film was inspired by classic video games of the 1990s.[25][26] The film had used the working title "Jumanji" and the final title and the use of the song "Welcome to the Jungle" was suggested by Jack Black.[27]

Like the original, this new Jumanji is full of jungle animals, and one of the most intensive sequences involves a stampede of albino rhinos which come perilously close to stomping on the main characters while they fly low through a canyon in a helicopter. VFX Voice asked Visual Effects Supervisor Jerome Chen how that sequence was made.
When one of them rolls a five or eight, Alan returns to the real world and we realize he's been living in the Jumanji jungle the whole time. After he and the kids (and adult-Sarah) finally finish their game of Jumanji, Alan is transported back to 1969 and becomes a kid again.

After a 1980s kid discovers a game called "Jumanji" half-buried on a beach, we flash forward to the present day. Four teenagers go from blackboard jungle to actual jungle when they discover a bizarre game console and find themselves sucked into the video game. Arriving in a cursed rainforest, they must fend off villains and angry animals to complete the game and find a way out, while of course learning a little something about themselves along the way.
The fun is in the casting. The disparate "Breakfast Club" of squabbling teens is teleported not just into a strange game world but also into strange new bodies: exaggerated games characters, played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. The teens -- a jock, a timid nerd, a vapid social media junkie and er, another timid nerd -- find themselves in the least likely body, and chucklesome gags flow like the Amazon. The stars doing the jungle boogie play entertainingly against type -- Johnson is a hoot, flexing his comic muscles as the brain who's nervous about his newly discovered brawn.
The body-swap concept also teaches the characters important lessons, about looking beyond the appearances of others and understanding themselves. In the jungle -- the mighty jungle -- there's an emphasis on problem-solving and teamwork rather than on violence, as the characters draw on strengths they didn't know they had. So while the selfie-taking air-head is the butt of a few jokes aimed at the pernicious stereotype of a teenage girl, she's also the first to figure out some of the obstacles they face and frequently helps others to overcome their issues when they can't see the metaphorical jungle for the trees.
Does the sequel surpass the original? I couldn't tell you, for reasons I mentioned earlier. But "Welcome to the Jungle" is a diverting comic caper with plenty of laughs even for viewers new to the world of "Jumanji". And when it comes to a rib-tickling combination of action and comedy, it proves Dwayne Johnson is king of the jungle.
The event is open to the public and will begin at 8:30 p.m. with concessions available for purchase. The movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG-13), will begin at 9 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

It seems to be a common belief that simply acknowledging that something relies too heavily on clichd tropes is enough to subvert said trope, but that's rarely the case. Jumanji uses Martha as a mouthpiece to criticize the skimpy outfit worn by her avatar, Ruby Roundhouse. But at the same time the film is making this commentary on female game protagonist design, it benefits from having a young actress dressed in an unnecessarily skimpy outfit. Luckily, the film is brimming with charm, and doesn't rely too heavily on sexy shots of Karen Gillan, preferring to have her project silliness over sultriness. In fact, she adds bits of her male companions' outfits to her own in order to feel a bit more comfortable as she journeys through the jungle kicking bad guy butt with her dance fighting techniques. Still, it's an extremely noticeable instance of Jumanji wanting to have its cake and eat it too.
Van Pelt shows up periodically to berate and give orders to his underlings. The thing about video games is, any time the player character isn't on the screen and the bad guy's side of the story is being shown, it's done through cutscene. But since this is a movie that has to show the audience the whole story while keeping Spencer and the other kids in the dark, they never revisit the cutscene mechanic again. This dynamic implies Van Pelt's a sentient being who these teenagers erase from existence when they win the game. It really is kill or be killed in the jungle.
While Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was indeed a fun movie to watch, it should not quite be considered a perfect film that should be glorified entirely. Many story elements seemed to be questionable, such as the fact that a character could lose their life from getting bitten by a mosquito in the jungle, or Dr. Bravestone getting pushed off a cliff by Finbar to lose one of his lives. The villain seemed not all that intimidating, and more like any other hurdle that the characters had to go through to complete the game. While Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle may not have been all that adequate in how it told its story, it was an all-around fun movie to watch, with good value found in comedy and action to keep viewers engaged throughout. be457b7860
