Personally in the classroom I believe that some of the strengths that I possess, are my listening skills and my ability to keep up to date with my E-Portfolio. I also think that as far as my teaching groups, bringing in ideas and being able to communicate what works and make changes and alterations to our lesson plan as we go is something that I am good at doing. So far in the semester some of the weaknesses I see in myself is being able to comprehend the information during class, this is because I tend to space out and my attention span lie somewhere else, and as a result of this I often find myself having to do extra studying on the lesson/topic and I get lost when doing labs/worksheets and need extra help on those too.
When looking at the goals I have set for myself in the beginning of the semester, I feel as if I'm doing okay with keeping up with how I want to accomplish my goal. I am staying up to date with my E-Portfolio though I am lacking in some of the assignments that need to be turned in, partly because I am lost on how to do them. I have only missed one day of class ( the second day of the first semester ) because of a family emergency, but other than that I have been showing up to class everyday, taking handwritten notes, but sometimes my attention span wanders off and I zone out, but I try my best to get back into listening to lectures. I have found that I learn better when reading the information and writing notes about it rather than listening and taking in the information. Usually I spend about 2-3 hours in this class and I feel that it isn't enough, I try to make time for this class as well as studying for my other classes but I tend to procrastinate in those other subjects as well. Looking at how I perform in this class and the work that I do, I would give myself a B, just because I am on top of my E-Portfolio and I feel like I've done well with teaching infront of the class, but I do lack in some of the assignments. For the rest of the semester, I want to apply myself more, reading the material beforehand, watching the lectures and extra help and information about the lesson to be able to do the assignments with much more ease.
Being able to teach for about an hour in class, having some time to prepare and gather materials for the lesson plan, I feel much more comfortable going into teaching earth science. Getting a feel about what it's like to teach infront of the classroom, gives me confidence in myself, and being able to speak loudly. As far as me E-Portfolio I think that, it is easy to navigate, but the topics for the Earth Science material could go into more depth and write a detail oriented lesson plan that allows me to look over and not have to reteach myself and be confused in the future.
