¡Bienvenidos a mi página!
I'm a Guatemalan economist with experience in applied research and policy advice. Since August 2026, I'm a PhD candidate in Economics and Management at the University of Zürich.
Previously, I worked as a pre-doctoral research fellow at the University of Göttingen with Cara Ebert, Leander Heldring and Sebastian Vollmer and as a research consultant with the International Labour Organization (ILO).
My interests lie in empirical microeconomics with applications to education, labour markets, and migration. With my work, I want to understand the causes of unequal opportunities, especially with regard to the formation of human capital.

Over 60% of students in Guatemala do not meet the minimum literacy and numeracy expected at their age, far exceeding the regional averages; this figure reaches up to 80% among the poorest pupils (ERCE 2019). Understanding how families, teachers and schools can enable young people to develop stronger skills for their future is a key motivation of my work.
