Expertise in Learning, Spatial Cognition, Spatial training & STEM (Mathematics), Comics
I am a Post-Doctoral Associate in Learning Analytics, and a Managing Co-Director in the Learning Informatics Lab at the University of Minnesota. In addition, I am an Affiliated Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Reading and Learning Lab, and at the Affection, Cognition and Computation Lab at the University of Minnesota. Prior to this, I have been a Post-Doctoral Researcher for two years, at the SellSTEM Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN, for which I continue to this day to supervise two PhD students. My research is on spatial mental representations that are constructed when reading and learning from comics; and since 2021, I am also an Affiliated Post-Doc at the Visual Language Lab, at Tilburg University. I have a Ph.D. in Cognitive and Experimental Psychology from the University of Cyprus, a MA in Cognitive and Educational Psychology from the University of Cyprus and a BA in Education Sciences in Early Childhood from the University of Thrace, Greece. At the University of Cyprus I worked as an instructor for undergraduate courses on Educational Psychology, on the Psychology of Happiness and Adaptive Behavior, on R language, and on the Neuroscience of Behavior; and as a Visitor Lecturer at the Frederick Institute of Technology for the courses Psychology of Learning and Developmental Psychology.
