Sound and writing, Key and paper, 45x46.5 cm
The key is a form of identity in itself. A key opens a lock and has a unique pattern. What happens when the key still has a unique pattern but no longer opens a (or any) lock? The identity of the key becomes even more singular, but it loses the purpose for which it was created.
This relationship, as well as the relationship each of us has with a key, can be quite metaphorical. The installation explores the metaphorical aspect of the key and how it can vary from person to person (and over time within the same person). What does a key without a lock mean to you at this moment?
