I am a Research Associate at UNU-WIDER, focusing on taxation and social protection in developing countries. At UNU-WIDER, I lead the research collaboration with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). I have several years of experience working with administrative tax data in African countries, mainly Uganda and Zambia. Besides the research, I am responsible for developing and managing the activities related to the URA secure research lab in collaboration with the URA research lab team. These activities include, for example, curating and documenting administrative tax data, developing lab facilities, and reviewing research proposals.
My ongoing tax research projects include evaluating tax policies and tax administration in Uganda and Zambia. My research on social protection focuses on using the tax-benefit microsimulation models (SOUTHMOD).
I received my PhD in Economics from the University of Turku.
