Welcome to my website!
I am an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
I do research and write on tort theory, comparative private law, consumer law and punitive damages. Drawing on legal doctrine and insights from modern cognitive and social psychology, my scholarship explores questions relating to the place of punishment in tort law, the role of victims in the tort process, the relationship between product liability and risk regulation in the face of the challenges posed by new technologies and the notion of the vulnerable consumer in the digital economy.
I teach torts, advanced seminars on private law theory, and product liability and risk regulation.
This website contains information about my published work and some recent and forthcoming events.
This academic year, I will be discussing my recent monograph Torts and Retribution. The Case for Punitive Damages (CUP 2025) in different venues within the United States, Latin America and Europe - I am hoping to engage in fruitful conversations with legal scholars across jurisdictions, stay tuned!
