Valencia is one of the best connected cities in Spain and there are a number of options available depending on your preference and length of stay. We would recommend using a flight search engine like Skyscanner or Kayak to check out the different options.
Valencia Airport - Many carriers operate direct flights to Valencia, which is by far the easiest way to travel. However, depending on where you are flying from, there may be no direct flights and it might be easier and cheaper to fly into Alicante, Castellón, or Madrid and take the train or drive.
Transport - The airport has: a modern metro, taxis, buses, and car rental to help you get into the city centre.
Valencia Airport - Transport Information
Alicante Airport - Alicante is a well served airport offering a good alternative to Valencia Airport if no direct flights are available.
Transport - Alicante is a 2 hr drive from Valencia and the scenic route along the Costa Blanca is populated with good cycle routes, small historic towns, and cities that may be of interest to guests looking to make a longer trip.
There is also an hourly train that runs from Alicante to Valencia, which takes 1.5 hrs and costs around €40 return.
Castellón–Costa Azahar Airport - A recently opened airport that only operates three flights per week, exclusively with Ryanair to London and Bristol. The airport is situated near the picturesque coastal town of Peniscola and is only a 1 hr drive from Valencia. This airport is a good option for guests looking to visit the coastal town as part of their trip and take advantage of the lower fares.
Transport - There is no public transport at the airport, so transfers will need to be made by either hiring a car or by taking one of the following: the shuttle bus, shuttle bus and train, taxi, or arranging a private transfer. A full overview of the different options can be found here.
Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport - Madrid benefits from high speed train connections and internal flights to Valencia, making it a viable option for guests looking to incorporate a stay into their trip or where no direct flights operate.
Transport - The airport has metro, train, bus, and taxi transfers to the city centre. From Madrid train station you can then hop on the fast train (AVE) to Valencia in under 2 hrs. Car hire is also available and Valencia is a 3.5 hr drive.
The nearest stations to the church are: Colón and Alameda which are a 10 minute walk away.
Valencia has a modern, regular, and reliable metro service that is by far the easiest way to travel around the city. There are also city hire bikes (Valenbisi), taxis, and buses. It is usually cheaper to purchase a travel card, as some can be shared among several people and work across the metro, trams, and buses.
