Breckenridge, CO beckons with snowy slopes, charming shops, and cozy nights by the fireplace. This itinerary is designed for a romantic winter getaway, filled with adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable moments together.
Fly into Denver International Airport (DIA).
Pick up your car rental at the airport and drive to downtown Denver (the Oxford Hotel to be exact).
Check into the Oxford Hotel. This is the oldest hotel in Denver and has fantastic customer service! You will want to stay in Denver when you arrive instead of going straight to Breckenridge to help you adjust to the elevation change. Plus, who doesn't want to spend the night in an adorable, historic hotel?!
Make sure you're drinking lots of water!!!!
Enjoy a delicious dinner at Korean - JINYA Ramen Bar. You may want to try to get here on the earlier side as you can end up waiting quite a while if you come during peak dinner time. It's worth whatever wait it is when you go though.
Grab a late-night drink at The Cooper Lounge (inside of Union Station, across the street from the Oxford Hotel - you will take a staircase by the Amtrak check-in) OR the Cruise Room "Speakeasy" (at the Oxford Hotel).
Head back to your hotel and drink lots of water before going to bed. Being well-hydrated will help you with adjusting to the altitude.
Sleep in (while still giving yourself time to pack up and check out).
Ask the front desk to hold your bags for you while you grab your breakfast.
If it's any day besides Monday or Tuesday, grab a coffee at Amante (next door to the Oxford) and then go to LoDough Bakery to get a pastry item. You can sit down to enjoy your breakfast anywhere inside of the Denver Milk Market. If LoDough isn't open, then get up a little earlier to snag some food from the complimentary breakfast in the lobby at the Oxford. Breakfast is usually served from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 am.
One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort
Breckenridge Boutique Hotel
Mountain Thunder Lodge
Get your bags from the Oxford Hotel, hop in your car and drive to Breckenridge, CO.
Check into your hotel (options are above). Make sure to book your hotel with me so that I can help get you the best rate!
Walk around the adorable downtown area and enjoy one of the museums or tours! Pick up warm souvenirs like cozy hats or mittens, or find unique keepsakes to commemorate your trip. Grab lunch at Downstair's at Eric's (pub) and dinner at Radicato Breckenridge (Italian).
Bundle up, then hit the slopes and whether you're a seasoned skier or a curious beginner enjoy a day of ski lessons at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. The best way to get to Peak 8 will be to use the free bus transportation in town and then use the (free) BreckConnect Gondola to get up to the resort.
I recommend renting your equipment online at the Breck Sports Peak 8 ski rental. It's cheaper if you reserve them online here.
If you're a beginner skiier/snowboarder and choose to not take a lesson, I highly recommend riding the "Rip's Ride" ski lift and doing the slopes there.
Enjoy lunch on the slopes at Robbie's Tavern (located at Peak 8).
When you're done with your lesson, head back to your hotel to shower and get dressed for dinner at Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon (in Downtown Breckenridge).
Grab coffee and a muffin or sandwich for breakfast at Cuppa Joe Cafe.
Next, relax your muscles and melt away any stress during a couples massage at Grand Colorado Infinity Spa. (Make reservations HERE.) Leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated (especially after a full day of skiing).
Once you are done with your spa, if you're hungry, grab something to eat at Castaways Cove (Hawaiian) before heading to your hotel room to take a nap.
Tonight, take a Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride to enjoy the beautiful scenery as you wind your way through snowy meadows - Book Here
If you go with the option where dinner is not included, then enjoy a dinner at the Hearthstone Restaurant before your sleigh ride.
Sleep in then enjoy a leisurely brunch at Horseshoe Breckenridge (closed on Wednesdays, opens at 10:00 am).
Go snowmobiling at Good Times Adventure Tours. It's quite a treck to get there which is why you have a rental car. You'll want to make sure you arrive plenty early, too, so plan accordingly once you decide what time your adventure will take place. (CLICK HERE to make your reservation.)
After a day on the mountain, enjoy some delicious pizza at Tin Plate Pizza for dinner.
Check out of your hotel, grab breakfast on your way out at Mimi & Pin which offers coffee, churros, donuts, waffles, and more!
Drive to Denver International Airport (DIA), return your car rental and fly home.
Once home, start planning your next trip!
