I am a post-doctoral researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in Lisbon, working with André F. T. Martins (Instituto Superior Técnico ; IT) on preference learning and preference optimization in the context of natural language processing.
Before that, I completed my PhD at LIP6 (computer science laboratory of Sorbonne University) in Paris where I worked in the team DECISION under the supervision of Professor Patrice Perny (LIP6, Sorbonne University) and Professor Nataliya Sokolovska (LCQB, Sorbonne University).
My PhD thesis is about artificial intelligence and more specifically, on how we can build bridges between machine learning and decision theory (e.g., multiattribute/criteria decision making, decision making under uncertainty). For instance, I designed algorithms to efficiently learn decision models from observing examples of decision-makers' preferences. More generally, I am interested in how machine learning can benefit from other fields such as decision theory or game theory regarding model interpretability and model normative guarantees.
I am honored to share that my PhD has been awarded the prestigious Gilles Kahn 2025 PhD Award by the French Computer Science Society ! 🏆 The manuscript is available here: https://theses.fr/2025SORUS169.
