Hi, I'm Margaret and I live in Adelaide South Australia.
I developed an interest of colour while living in Alice Springs in Central Australia. From the blue skies and the fluffy white clouds to the beauty of sunrises and sunsets, not forgetting the red soil and natural beauty of the desert, impressed me and motivated me towards artistic endeavours.
When I moved to the city of Adelaide, I was lucky enough to be taught by several professional art teachers. It has been rewarding to learn many techniques from Chinese painting, watercolour, oils, pastorals, charcoal, spray inks, alcohol inks and acrylic. Over time I have developed my own style and continue to experiment with new techniques.
Acrylic pouring is my current interest, which is a fascinating fluid art technique as two pictures will never be the same. Depending on the technique, this liquified paint is then poured onto the canvas and distributed by tilting the paint surface. Depending on the choice of paint, the medium, and the adhesives, different effects are created.
My first ballerina titled
'Awaiting the Opening'
I have learnt a great deal by joining Facebook groups and following YouTubers, with artists including Julie Cutts, Sarah Mack, and Gilly Kube, to name a few.
Initial I was asking for help and advice, however, now I have moved onto helping and directing others, including artists.
A few methods to mention are single flip cups, multiple flip cups, swipes, waves, colander and dirty pours, which have provided me with rewarding and personal experiences. I have benefited from mastering one technique before moving on to the next. Another positive for me is that I can learn new methods through experimentation and investigation.
I personally find painting very therapeutic and relaxing, as art can bring joy to others, and many personal friendships have been made through various groups.
Below are a few of my paintings which I have for sale, however I have lots more which you can see when you contact me.
