Hello. Margaret Reich here. Welcome to my website. If you are looking for a seasoned professional to assist your organization in securing funding for priority work or to identify strategies and tactics for economic development, you have come to the right place.
Margaret Reich is the owner and sole proprietor of a firm dedicated to economic development and grant writing. She has over fifteen years of experience in strategically identifying organizational funding gaps, researching then qualifying grantors, and preparing winning grant proposals. While at the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services, Margaret authored numerous federal, state, regional foundation grants and low-interest loans. Margaret raised over $75 million for priority work in just five years and enjoyed a success rate of 75%. She went on to work in higher education, where she started Central Washington University’s first-ever Corporate and Foundation program and established lasting, supportive relationships with well-known grantors such as MJ Murdock Trust, Wm Keck, and corporate entities like Georgia-Pacific and Fluke. Margaret led economic development activities for the City of Ellensburg as the Executive Director of Ellensburg’s public development authority. With the City of Ellensburg, Margaret significantly updated the Charter, Bylaws and Board membership, and delivered on a focused strategic workplan that resulted in many accomplishments, perhaps of note is the 1,000,000+ SF Winco Warehouse and hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funds to advance business attraction and expansion, enjoying a success rate of 100%. She started her firm in November 2023, and in the first six months wrote and submitted over ten grant applications, enjoying a 75% success rate.
Margaret earned her master’s degree in public administration, with honors, and works, lives, and plays in Bellingham, Washington.

I'd like to learn more about your organization and how I can help. Give me a call or send me an email and let's work together to get stuff done for your organization.
Research and analysis. Use conventional (e.g. grants.gov, Grant Station, etc.) and unconventional ways to locate prospective funders who have a connection with the people at the requesting organization or the type of work to be performed with the gran funding. Analysis includes qualifying grants to further ensure there is a ‘fit’ between the funder’s interest and the project’s need. Established systems to track grantor program application openings and deadlines. Closely follow federal and state legislative actions that could or do result in new, enhanced or defunded grant programs.
Writing and submittal. I carefully read, re-read and re-read grantor instructions and evaluation criteria to ensure I answer questions with the information the grantor is looking for. My writing style is simple, clear, concise, and above all responsive to the grantor. For application submittals, I carefully follow the grantor’s instructions, submit as to form, and always by or before the deadline.
Post-award monitoring, reporting, project and contract management. I set systems in place that meet the grantor’s contractual requirements for expenditures of things, people’s time, reporting deadlines, and any other requirements to ensure stewardship and compliance with the grant.
I am detailed oriented, work well within deadlines, recognize the need to listen and be flexible, and I practice authenticity in working with others as we come together with a shared view of what is needed and what could be.
