Margaret L. Currie was one of about 2845 Canadian nursing sisters in WWI. She offered her exceptional medical expertise for the entire duration of the war. Margaret was a Roman Catholic who was born in Fitzroy, ON, on November 8th of 1888. She served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps (C.A.M.C.) when she was 26 years old. Unfortunately she passed away on January 3rd of 1966 at the age of 77, and was buried two days later.
Margaret Currie was not only extremely talented in the medical field, but also created beautiful art in the form of poetry. Margaret wrote a lovely poem in which she titled "HAIL AND FAREWELL". She wrote about the dreadful war and the hopeful spring time.
