Marine Restoration Fund is a 501(c)(3) [in process of obtaining it] non-profit that will engage in an array of activities to improve the status of marine reefs. Main activities will include cleaning trash contamination of multiple ecosystems including mangrove fringe and patch reefs with the use, as needed, of specialized diving equipment. All cleaning performed will be carefully logged including type of trash and location, in order to correlate information with local demographics for research purposes. Trash contamination removed will be properly disposed of to minimize environmental impacts.
Marine Restoration Fund Inc. will use the research performed to educate the population on the impacts of pollution on marine ecosystems and what actions they can take to minimize their impacts on it.
During regular cleanups of reefs, trained volunteers will look for signs of reef diseases in order to log it and report it to local marine research institutions and other organizations, including global databases that focus on the health of marine reefs.
