I originally became interested in occupational therapy after the profound experience of witnessing my grandmother living and dying with dementia. Since that time, I have worked with people of all ages with a wide variety of conditions. I have over eleven years experience setting up and optimising electronic assistive technology, giving people access to communication aids, environmental controls, and other technologies through the use of eye tracking, head pointing, speech recognition, adapted keyboard/mouse/touchscreen, and switch technologies. My clients have taught me time and again that everyday activities can be a powerful means for people to discover their own skills, confidence, and motivation to overcome barriers and lead more satisfying lives as contributing members of our shared community.
