We are developing a comprehensive dataset that systematically captures wages negotiated in collective bargaining agreements across Spain. The dataset includes detailed information on worker categories, wage floors, and various wage components, such as payments for overtime, night work, high performance, and other wage-related concepts.
The project involves the digitization of both sectoral and firm-level agreements, providing extensive coverage of negotiated wages. Each observation includes identifiers for the sector, province, and firm, enabling detailed analysis of wage-setting dynamics across regions and industries.
The creation of this dataset is a joint effort with Ferran Elias, combining expertise in labor economics and data digitization to build a high-quality resource for research and policy analysis.
The first paper using this dataset is The Interaction between Minimum Wages and Collective Bargaining: Explaining Wage Spillovers.
(We have already collected more data than what is used in the current working paper version, and an updated version will be available in the coming months.)
Once the project is completed, we plan to make the dataset openly accessible to promote transparency and facilitate further research on collective bargaining, wage inequality, and labor market institutions.
