Other stuff you might want to know
I was greatly influenced by a Modeling Method for Teaching Physics workshop I attended in 2001, led by James Vesenka and Jeffrey Steinert. You can read more about those here.
My current teaching "project" is implementing Standards-Based Grading in AP Physics. I was inspired by the experiences shared by Frank Noschese and others. You can read a bit about SBG on Frank's blog here. I started with AP Physics 1 in the fall of 2015, enjoyed it so much I expanded to my AP Physics 2 course in mid-year, and this year (2016-2017)I am working on AP Physics C.
I don't believe in "one best way" of teaching physics, but in my workshops I do my best to show you the way I teach my students. This means that I will try to show you how I work inquiry in at every opportunity.
I really enjoy labs. I try to introduce every big idea in AP Physics with a lab. I will try to incorporate as much lab and demonstration work as is feasible. I have experience with both Vernier and Pasco equipment.
I have a variety of teaching experiences at different levels, subjects, and situations. See my resume below.
I look forward to the opportunity to learn from my participants.
