Before diving into economics, I actually dreamed of studying sports science… but here we are — life had other plans. Looking back, maybe I made the right call (who knows, right?). Today, I try to keep a healthy balance. The gym has been part of my daily routine for over a decade now. Those two hours a day are my escape — a space to clear my mind, recharge, and push myself to the limit, just like I try to do in everyday life.
By my side, there’s Ariola, a wonderful person who’s been with me since my undergraduate days. She supported me through every challenge, taught me what it really means to put someone else first, and made me a better person in the process. Family means everything to me. I owe them everything — their support, their values, and probably my stubborn determination too.
When I’m not working, I love traveling. Spain has a special place in my heart — their way of living, thinking, and communicating is simply contagious. After my PhD visiting period there in 2022, I pretty much left my heart behind. I’ve also visited several European countries — France, UK, the Czech Republic, and more — but my dream trip? Definitely Latin America (and Japan… talk about contrast!).
After COVID-19, I discovered padel, and it’s been pure fun ever since — great energy and some satisfying matches! Before that, I played tennis for a while. Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly Wimbledon material, though I did win a few local tournaments — nothing too fancy.
And before all of that… football. From the age of five until twenty-one, football was my life. I played at a good level as a central midfielder with a creative, attacking mindset (I was a little stricker a lot of years ago). In my later years, I even switched to full-back — sometimes you just have to do what’s best for the team!
