This one-year internal project is intended to raise third-party funding and develop the basis for examining how organisational and family contexts jointly shape access to non-formal job-related training among underrepresented groups in the workforce. Building on our doctoral research, we take a relational approach to analyse how positioning and negotiation processes in the workplace and at home interact to create or mitigate barriers to participation and how these evolve over time.
Set against the backdrop of ongoing socio-economic transformations, we employ linked employer–employee data within a longitudinal framework to investigate these mechanisms. As a pilot for a subsequent funding proposal, the project will expand to generate robust empirical evidence, informing policy and organisational measures that foster fair and inclusive access to training, reduce structural inequalities and strengthen opportunities for democratic participation and social cohesion in working life.
