This project examines how organisational and family contexts jointly shape access to job-related non-formal training among underrepresented groups in the workforce. Drawing on our doctoral research, we adopt a relational perspective to analyse how positioning and negotiation processes within workplace and family settings interact to create or mitigate barriers to participation, and how these barriers evolve over the life course.
Situated within the broader context of ongoing socio-economic transformations, we use linked employer–employee data in a longitudinal framework to investigate these mechanisms. As a pilot for a subsequent funding proposal, the project will expand to generate robust empirical evidence and inform policy and organisational measures that foster fair and inclusive access to training, reduce structural inequalities, and strengthen opportunities for democratic participation and social cohesion in working life.
