Research assistant on Reasoning models for the analysis of the spread of deseases

We are looking for 1 Research assistant for 2021.

The recent pandemic has highlighted a lack of effective Decision Support Systems (DSSs) for the management of health emergencies. The project aims to create a first prototype of DSS that can be used to support decisions relating to the containment of the spread of epidemies. The prototype will be based on a solid framework and related analysis tools by integrating holistic deterministic epidemiological models, defined by differential equations, with stochastic models. The parameters of the models that describe the evolution of the infection and its effects psychological, social and economic are obtained from the epidemiological literature or estimated from incidence data. The combined approach allows you to: 1) associate a (distribution of) probability to a state, property or duration of the pandemic; 2) automatically synthesize strategies to achieve a condition desired; 3) simulate and analyze strategy to evaluate its effects. The approach can be adapted to different contexts (single organization, provincial, (inter) national) to allow the informed choice of the best countermeasures. The project activities consist of: a modeling of the holistic evolution of the pandemic; analysis of properties of interest (e.g. reachability); formalization in advanced simulation and analysis tools; synthesis of control strategies that satisfy the specified properties; validation of models and evaluation of effectiveness of the approach considering both social and economic impacts, and related dissemination.
