Selected Projects

Here are some of the teaching-and-learning projects that I have been involved over the years.

"Teaching and Learning Innovation Expo" is a major event held annually at CUHK. I have given a talk in 2021 to highlight the inspiring experience in an engineering product design and development course. The course attracted many engineering and non-engineering students who are interested in entrepreneurship and innovative designs. Some students have even expanded their course project into full-fledged start-up companies.

I shared my two cents with Varsity, a student magazine at CUHK, about online teaching and learning under COVID, particularly about online examination. Essentially, a bit of extra care were invested to ensure fairness in assessments. Varying questions (and grading them) in online tests is actually easier than in conventional settings. However, encouragement, communication and extra resources are more valuable than the deterrence against cheating alone.

These are the micro-modules that I helped to develop for a first-year engineering design course. They are intended to be viewed by students before the classes, to gain the basic understanding on engineering design concept and laboratory equipments. Video and animation are used for captivation and illustration.

An 10-hour workshop was organized and offered in an engineering summer camp for high-school students. Without any prior experience in robotics or programming, they were led to design an IR-seeking robot car for a capture-the-flag race. Spectators were invited to increase the difficulty of the race field by throwing in dynamic obstacles. Part of the result of the workshop has been published in an IEEE education conference.

Applying Edtech to Personalized Learning

I am part of a team that founded Infinity Lab in 2022, to apply edtech to K-12 education and to provide students with personalized learning platform. The project is in early development phase and has received supports from several seed funds.
