QuNet: Physical/Link Layer Interfaces for Multi-Node Quantum Networks
The QuNet project aims to generate knowledge, develop technological solutions, and provide support for standardization for multi-node quantum interfaces addressing the physical and link network layers. In particular, the project will focus on advancing the field of Multi-Node Quantum Networks to become a major component seamlessly integrated in future Telecommunication networks, with particular emphasis on three main areas: (i) modeling and assembling physical communication quantum nodes; (ii) developing and characterizing protocols suited for linking them; and (iii) strengthening standardization of solutions in national and international efforts.
The QuNet project would mean at a national level establishing a reference group in quantum engineering networks, based on the knowledge generated since 2010 with reference Academic Institutions, and at an international level it would allow establishing collaborations with leading research groups in quantum communications.
