We are fortunate that the concessions stand at PHHS stadium is run by the Band Boosters. To keep this program under the band boosters, we need help from parents and students. The concession stand is our BIGGEST fundraiser for the bands, so your volunteer time is vital. Please offer to volunteer during at least one game during the season so that all parents have the opportunity to watch their student perform.
What does it take to run the concessions stand? Roles are really pretty simple, and training is provided.
1-2 Chairpersons - This role requires the purchasing and inventory of stock for the concessions stand throughout the football season. Additionally this role sets up the volunteer schedule, deposits money at the bank, and organizes any additional needs.
2-4 cashiers (depending on game) - This role requires the ability to work the square reader, add purchases, and count change. Additonally, this person(s) may be asked to do the final count of the monies at the end of the night. This role is mostly staying in one place.
4-6 runners (depending on game) - This role grabs the items the cashier asks for to sell to the customer. This may be grabbing items from the hot stand, or possibly adding cheese to nachos/fries. This role requires mobility.
2-4 prep workers (depending on game) - This role requires the ability to put the hot dog or hamburger/cheese on the bun, wrap it with foil and place in the warmer. Addiitonally this role may make and fill popcorn, fill and replace fries in the warmer, fill chicken tenders, or any additional roles to prepare food for concessions. This role may require mobility.
1-2 fryers (depending on game) - This role requires the ability to drop fries and chicken tenders in the hot oil and set the timer. This role requires standing, may be warm, depending on season (fan is available).
1-2 grillers (depending on game) - This role requires the ability to grill hamburgers and hot dogs to the appropriate temperature on the grill outside. This role requires standing, tent can be provided in times of rainy weather.
In order to get many of our larger instruments, podiums, and other heavy/large equipment to our football field and away performances we fill our trailer(s), then transport, and move items onto the field. While this role offers training, you will need to be able to possibly move heavy items, and be mobile.
Before most of the performances of our students, the Boosters provides a snack or meal. This food and paper products often comes from donations from parents, and/or financial support from Boosters. Not only do we need parents to provide donations, but we can always use some volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up during these meals.
Uniforms don't just appear on the students or hang themselves, we have volunteers that not only hand out and inventory our student uniforms. In addition to inventory, this role may require some minor alteration, measuring of students, and guaranteeing the show-side bag ("mom bag") is packed with all necessary items and follows the band wherever they go.
